BOTOX® Cosmetic is the number one requested, non-surgical facial procedure in the US. The beauty of BOTOX® is that it offers a quick & easy solution to temporarily smooth the fine lines and wrinkles on your face. A simple, virtually painless, 10-minute treatment involving a just few tiny injections with no downtime can be achieved during your lunch break. After just one quick treatment, the visible smoothing of lines and wrinkles may be seen in just a few days.
What is BOTOX®?
BOTOX® is the brand name for a purified protein derived from the bacterium, clostridium botulinum (onabotulinumtoxin A), produced by Allergan. It has over 20 different medical uses, treating a variety of conditions such as excess sweating (hyperhidrosis), bladder instability, and chronic migraine.
How does BOTOX® Cosmetic work?
Simply put, BOTOX® temporarily prevents the brain’s nerve signals from reaching the muscle. Normal facial expressions cause muscles to pull and draw the skin. Over time these repeated movements develop into “character lines,” wrinkles, frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. This results in tired, angry expressions and even an aged appearance. BOTOX® injections relax the muscle in the treated area, softening, and sometimes even eradicating the dynamic lines resulting in a softer, more youthful, refreshed look.
Results are evident within a just few days. The full effect is visible within 2 weeks, and typically lasts an average of three to four months. Regular treatments are required to maintain the results. It is not uncommon for results to last longer after regular treatments.

How safe is it?
BOTOX® has been used medically since the 1980’s and is approved for use in over 75 countries. It is an extremely safe treatment when administered by an experienced injector.
While it is a safe treatment, the skill of your injector is key. Your injector should blend an artistic eye coupled with the understanding of facial anatomy and product behavior. Your injector should also be able to identify naturally occurring asymmetries and inject BOTOX® accordingly. BOTOX® is not one size fits all. A skilled, experienced injector can produce the youthful results you desire.
How will the treatment be designed?
Bancroft Feldman Plastic Surgery wants you to be thrilled with your results. To achieve the best result possible, an in-depth consultation is always performed prior to your first treatment. During the consultation, we observe facial animation, learn what results are desired and factor in your lifestyle and health concerns. Rejuvenation recommendations may be made during your consultation, and questions you may have are addressed. Together, we will develop a treatment plan to achieve your desired results within your budget. Financing options are available.
What can be expected during the treatment?

What are the side effects?
BOTOX® is a very safe procedure with minimal discomfort. Typical side effects are usually minor and temporary, resolving within an hour. These reactions may include: redness, small raised bump, bleeding or small areas of bruising at injection sites.
Some may experience a dull headache or flu-like symptoms lasting a few days (and may be treated with Tylenol). Eye dryness or excessive tearing are also reactions to BOTOX®, which do not affect the outcome of the treatment.
More serious side effects such as blurred vision, droopy eyelids or brows can occur but are rare. To minimize risk, it is vital to disclose your full medical history. Include any medications or supplements you are taking, especially muscle relaxants, sleeping aids, allergy medications, and disclose if you’ve received any type of wrinkle relaxer treatment in the previous three months, any food or drug allergies, facial surgeries, implants, or adverse results you may have experienced from a previous BOTOX® treatment. If you are unsure if something is relevant to your treatment, it is best to mention it to your injector prior to treatment.
